- In 1929 brethren from Crossville TN. established the congregation of the Grimsley church of Christ.
- On July 12, 1930 property was secured for a building from L.P. Shanks. Willie Franklin and John G.
Lewellan
became trustees. A one-room building was built soon after and still stands (as of 2013) not
far from the present location.
- The present building was erected in 1981. Recently, a hand-written copy of the original deed was
found
and given to the current congregation.
- Preachers from other locations preched for the church in the early days. Once the church in Jamestown
was established in 1943, churches in Nashville, TN supported preachers in the county with the understanding
that the preacher would preach for both congregations.
- The Grimsley church then met on Sunday afternoons for several years.
- In the 1940's and beyond, some of the preachers working in the Fentress County included: Ben H. Anderson,
Earl Edge, Levi Wilder and Otis Ransom, Jr.
- To this day, our goal is the same as it was in the beginning, to help change lives by sharing the truth,
and love of Jesus and the good news of His saving grace.
